Firstly when your issuance email arrives you will have two certificates in the email - your server certificate and a chained root certificate.

Copy the chained root certificate into a text editor such as notepad and save as chain.txt.
Copy your web server certificate into a text editor such as notepad and save as yourdomain.txt.

Install the Intermediate Certificate

On startup, Stronghold loads CA certificates from the file specified by the SSLCACertificateFile entry in its 'httpd.conf' file.

Open your httpd.conf file and find the SSLCACertificateFile entry. By default the entry will be SSLCACertificateFile='/ssl/CA/client-rootcerts.pem'. You will find 'httpd.conf' in the directory /conf .

2.

Open the file identified by SSLCACertificateFile (for example, /ssl/CA/client-rootcerts.pem) in a text editor .

3.

Open the chain.txt in a text editor and copy the contents of the file to the clipboard .

4.

Paste the chain.txt into the file identified by SSLCACertificateFile . In most cases insert the chain.txt contents at the end of the file .

5. Save the modified file and close the text editor.
6. Restart your web server.

Install your web server certificate

Your certificate will be sent to you by email. The email message includes the web server certificate that you purchased in the body of the email message.

Copy the certificate from the body of the email and paste it into a text editor (such as notepad) to create text files

1. Change directories to /usr/local/stronghold/bin.
2. Use the getcert script to install server certificate (located in /bin ).
3. You will be prompted for your certificate. Copy the yourdomain.txt file and paste it into the section that getcert provides.

Include ----BEGIN CERTIFICATE---- and ----END CERTIFICATE----. Press (Ctrl-D)
4. Restart your web server by using the following commands:

stronghold/bin/strongholdctl restart
Or if the server is not running
stronghold/bin/strongholdctl start
Test your certificate by using a browser to connect to your server. Use the https protocol directive (e.g. https://your server/) to indicate you wish to use secure HTTP. The padlock icon on your browser will be displayed in the locked position if your certificates are installed correctly and the server is properly configured for SSL
