Moving to us is easy.

1. If your old account was using cpanel and is still open, there is almost no action required by you. Order web hosting from our page, and ask our support to move your site to your new account.

Your site will be moved quickly and will retain its scripts/functionality.

2. If your site wasn't using cpanel, our support team will assist you in every step that you have to take.

Basically, you will have to do the following:

. Download a copy of your web site to your local pc.

. Upload the copy of the site to your new hosting account.

. If you had any databases on your old account, create dumps of them.

. Restore the dumps at your new hosting. This is easily done with phpMyAdmin.

3. Transfer your domain name to our registrar or just change your DNS settings to the ones mentioned in our welcome email.

If your domain is registered elsewhere and you just want hosting with Fame Hosting, but not to transfer the domain name itself to our Domain Registration services, you will have to edit the DNS/Name Servers on your domain at your current domain registrar. To do this, you must have modification control over your domain's DNS. This means you are either the Registrant (legal owner), Administrative Contact, and/or Technical Contact for the domain, AND can log in at your domain registrar to make changes to the DNS/Name Servers in your domain account. Be aware that not all domain registrars allow this, especially those who offer a "free domain" with web hosting. (Companies who disallow domain management usually do it because they don't want to to have your site hosted anywhere else, which is why they offer "free domains" in the first place -- they usually make it up on the hosting charges.)

When you sign up for a hosting Package at Fame Hosting, you will be given a choice to modify the name servers yourself at your current registrar to make your domain work with your Fame Hosting account. If all you want to do is switch hosting, choose the option to keep the domain you already own at your own registrar.

A "Domain Transfer" means to transfer registration of the domain name from one registrar to another. It is NOT the same as transferring hosting or switching hosting from one web host to another.

If a domain is less than 60 days old it cannot be transferred to another registrar.

If there is a Registrar-Lock on your domain at another registrar, you will have to remove the Registrar-Lock before you can transfer it to Fame Hosting. To do this, you will have to go to the web site where you bought and registered your domain, and log in with the username and password you received there when you registered your domain. Find their area for domain management and remove the registrar-lock. Contact your domain registrar's support department if you have difficulty with this.

If you have full control over your domain name and it doesn't expire soon, you can just change its DNS settings to the ones mentioned in our welcome email.

However, if you are not in control of your domain name, or your domain name will expire soon, we recommend that you transfer it to our registrar. You can transfer, .com, .net, .org, .name, .info, .biz and .us domains.

There is no transfer fee when transfering a name to FameHosting. However, you will be charged a one year registration fee which adds a year to the registration of your domain name. (for example, if your domain name expires on January 1st 2005, and you transfer your domain name to famehosting.com, you will be charged the regular 1 year registration fee for the TLD, and your domain will now expire January 1st 2006).

Here is how to move a domain name to us:

1. Contact our support and ask them to transfer the domain name.

2a. For .com, .net or .org domain names: The person listed in the contact info for your domain will receive an email, asking them to confirm the transfer.

2b. For .info, .biz, .us, and .name all domains you will be asked for the current authorization key for your domain. The authorization key should be easily accessible at your current domain name registrar.

3. The transfer takes up to 5 business days. During the transfer your domain name will be functional.

Enter your domain name in the "WHOIS Lookup" HERE. The WHOIS lookup result will either give you full information including domain Registrar information, or it will direct you to the domain's Registrar, depending upon who the domain is registered with.

We can host .com, .net, .org, .in, .biz, .us, .ca, .cc, etc. as well as domains from anywhere in the world. However we cannot host domains that do not allow modifcation of DNS to point to our name servers. .tk domains are one example of a type of domain we cannot host.

Any domain that you purchase at Fame Hosting will automatically have its DNS set to work with our name servers, ready for your hosting account (if you order one) as soon as the DNS resolves.

Yes. We host many types of sites both foreign and domestic, and our customers come to us from several countries worldwide.

No. Adult-oriented content is in violation of our Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policies. There are legal and ethical issues involved in hosting of such sites. This includes sites that are associated with bestiality or child pornography, or sites which promote hate against any group. Please see our Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policies for full details about what is and is not allowed on Fame Hosting servers.

Any user of our services who is found to have such content on their site, or links to such sites, will have their account closed and permanently deleted from the server within 24 hours.

No. We cannot directly make the change for you, unless we are listed as a Technical Contact or Administrative contact for the domain record, and have been provided by you with login access of our own to your domain's management at the registrar.

However if there is no Registrar-Lock on your domain, AND if you either have or don't need an EPP key for your domain, you may be able to transfer your domain to our Domain Registration services. An EPP Key (sometimes called Code or Authorization Key etc) is like a password, and is required to transfer .org, .biz and .info Domain Names from one Registrar to another.

In order for a domain transfer to be successfully completed you must have access to the Administrator email address on file for your domain at your old domain registrar. You will be required to confirm the transfer from that email address, before the transfer can proceed.

Once your domain is transferred to Fame Hosting, you will be able login and use our Domain Management tools to manage your domain's Name Servers, DNS, etc.
